Collegiate Learning Assessment
CLA Description: As part of a larger program to evaluate the quality of education at the University of Arkansas, we are administering the Collegiate Learning Assessment (CLA), which provides feedback on critical thinking, analytical reasoning, problem solving, and written communication skills. The CLA is sponsored by the Council for Aid to Education (CAE) and supported by the Voluntary System of Accountability (VSA), an initiative by public 4-year universities to supply basic, comparable information on the undergraduate student experience to important constituencies through a common web report - the College Portrait. Results of this assessment will allow the University to gauge its effectiveness in helping our students develop these skills, evaluate curriculum and make beneficial adjustments, and improve resource allocation. For more information about the CLA, please visit http://www.collegiatelearningassessment.org/. To learn more about how the University of Arkansas uses the data, browse the student learning outcomes section of our College Portrait at http://www.collegeportraits.org/AR/UA/learning_outcomes.
