Computer-Adaptive Placement Assessment and Support System

Test Description: This test offers placement and diagnostic testing in mathematics, reading, and writing. COMPASS takes advantage of adaptive testing technology to measure students mathematics, reading, and writing skills and to report results immediately.  Drawing from a pool of more than 2,400 test items, the computer adaptive format adjusts the difficulty level to the skills of the individual student, eliminating items that are too easy or too difficult and that contribute little to the measurement.  It is given on computer and is approximately 2 hours in length. Sample questions are available on the ACT website.

For information on the scoring and placement of the COMPASS test please visit the Placement and Proficiency Tests page on the University of Arkansas Catalog of Studies website.

Remote Testing is available at more than 550 COMPASS test centers across the United States.
