The International English Language Testing System (IELTS) assesses the English language proficiency of people who want to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. IELTS is jointly owned by British Council, IDP: IELTS Australia and Cambridge English Language Assessment and delivered through more than 1,000 locations in over 140 countries.
IELTS test takers can choose between two versions of the test – Academic or General Training – depending on their academic or professional aims, or visa requirements. All candidates take the same Listening and Speaking components but different Reading and Writing components.
Registration for the IELTS is a three step process. To complete your registration you should complete these steps in order:
A valid passport is the only acceptable form of identification. If you come on the test day without your passport, you will not be tested and your test fee will not be transferred or refunded.
Your Test Report Form will be mailed to you 13 days after the test. Please allow 4 business days for delivery. Your Test Report Form is a valuable document and you should keep it safe and secure because it cannot be replaced.
Results are available online using results.ielts.org. Results are available by 2:00 AM CST on the 14th day after your test date.
IELTS will send a copy of your TRF to up to five (5) institutions or organizations free of charge if you state these when you register. If you want a TRF to be sent to an institution after you have taken the test, you will be charged a $15 for each TRF. Call our office at (479) 575-3948 for more information.
If you are unhappy with your test result, you can apply for a re-mark (Enquiry on Results) within six weeks of your test date. You can choose which test components are re-marked. There is a $205 fee for this service which will be refunded if your score on any component is increased. Enquiries on Results take six to eight weeks to complete.
