Accommodated Testing Student Instructions

A few things to do and know first

  • Be sure the Faculty Notification Letter for that class has been sent and received by the instructor. Communicate with your instructor!
  • Instructors determine how accommodations will be provided for their course. If they determine our services are needed they will direct you to schedule with us. Note: Exams offered remotely (not taken in the classroom) should not be taken with Testing Services. Most accommodations are available within the remote testing system. Communicate with your instructor!
  • Exam appointments cannot be made until the professor has completed the testing agreement for the course.
  • If possible, submit all exam dates including the final at the beginning of the semester. Those dates should be listed in your course syllabus.
  • Exam appointments that you make can be changed. BUT!!! You must contact your instructor before changing it to a different date/time to get their approval.
  • Provide justification in the system when modifying the appointment.
  • Contact Testing Services at testing@uark.edu or (479) 575-3948 with any questions related to scheduling your exam.

Appointment Deadline

Exams and Midterms - Students must schedule all appointments through the Student Portal at least one (1) week in advance. Appointment requests are disabled two (2) business days before the test date. Please book early to secure a seat - don't wait until the last minute!

Finals - The deadline to schedule a final exam with us is two weeks before Reading Day. The deadline to schedule for Fall 2025 Finals is November 21, 2025, at 5:00 PM. The deadline to schedule for Spring 2026 Finals is April 17, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

Early Arrival

Students may arrive up to 20 minutes before their scheduled exam time, and we will do our best to check them in early for their exam. Please note, some instructors may have set the start time for your computer-based exam to the exact scheduled time. In this case, you will need to wait at the workstation until the exam opens.

Late Arrival Policy

Students should arrive 10 minutes before their scheduled exam time. This allows time for students to be properly checked in before the exam start time. Students arriving more than 15 minutes late without prior approval must complete their exam by the scheduled end time. If they start late, they will fill out the Exam Time Acknowledgment form, which is shared with their instructor. Note: If taking an online exam, you may see an end time that doesn't accurately reflect your late start time. In this case, you must submit the exam when your appointment time ends as agreed to in the Exam Time Acknowledgment form. Alternatively, they can cancel the appointment and coordinate with their instructor for other testing arrangements. Students who do not arrive within 30 minutes of their scheduled start time will be considered a no-show.

Missed Appointments / No-Show Policy

We expect students to be respectful of the time Testing Services dedicates to preparing for their appointment. Also, consider the other students who may not have been able to schedule a test because a workstation was reserved for your exam, but you missed the appointment. Because of this, after three missed appointments, we will let your instructor know and require a meeting with a Testing Services staff member before scheduling any future appointments. Note: Students should cancel or reschedule their appointments through their student portal account within AIM as soon as they know they will not be taking the exam at Testing Services to avoid a no-show.

Detailed steps in the process

  1. Log into the Student Portal using your UARK credentials. Once logged in, your “OVERVIEW” page will show. If you have any E-Forms that need to be signed, you will see a popup detailing required E-Form Agreements that need to be filled out. Click the close button on the pop up window and go to the “My E-Form Agreements” link to take care of the form(s). You will not be able to make appointments until this is resolved.
  2. On the left-hand side of the dashboard, under “Accommodations”, click on the “Alternative Testing” link. Your next screen will be where you will schedule an exam appointment for the applicable course.
  3. Use the dropdown to select the course you are wanting to schedule the exam for.
    • If you do not see this dropdown, it means your professor(s) has not completed the testing agreement. Contact them about the agreement!
  4. Once you have selected the applicable course for the exam appointment, click on SCHEDULE AN EXAM. This will take you to the Exam Request Form page.
  5. Read the contents in the “Terms and Conditions” section and then answer all questions marked with an asterisk (*). Ensure you annotate what accommodations and technology are needed for your appointment.
    • Available Exam Dates: These dates have been entered by your Professor. If you are able to take the exam on the date specified, select that date. If not, contact your Professor to see if you can take it on a different date. This date will auto-populate in the “Date” section.
    • Campus: Select UA Campus
    • Date: Click on the calendar icon to select the date you are wanting to take the exam on if it is different from the date your Professor wants you to take the exam.
    • Services Requested: Select all the accommodations you would like to utilize for this exam.
Please note not all will be applicable or approved per Testing Agreement from the course instructor.
    • Required Technology: Select any technology required for this exam if known.
    • Additional Note: You can add any applicable information here that might be pertinent for this exam.
This note will be reviewed by Testing Services staff approving the appointment.
  6. Click on “ADD EXAM REQUEST” at the bottom of the form.
Important: Exam requests cannot overlap. You will not be able to submit a second request if the exam times overlap from the first request.
  7. If you’ve done everything right, you will see a message that reads "Success! Your action has been complete. The system has successfully saved your action."
If not, you will need to make any necessary corrections to the appointment request that has been identified.

On this same page, you have the option of making another exam request for the same course. Please do so if you can.
  8. You have a couple of options from here:
You can click on “Overview” to get you back to your main page or click on “Alternative Testing” to review all of your scheduled appointments.

Click on the “View” link to see the details of that appointment. This is where you can modify or cancel an exam appointment.

If you wish to modify your exam request (change date, time, accommodations), just change what you need in the “Exam Request” section and then click on “Update Exam Request” at the bottom of the page. IMPORTANT!! Communicate with your instructor(s) to get approval to make a date/time change prior to making the change in the system. Put your justification for the change in the “Additional Note” section at the bottom of the request.

If you wish to cancel your exam request, select the appropriate reason in the dropdown menu in the “Cancel Exam Request” section and then click on “Cancel Exam Request”. You will see a popup confirmation screen.
  9. If you’ve done everything you need to do, you can sign out of the system.
