TOEFL ITP

The TOEFL ITP is a two-hour in-person exam designed to assess proficiency in three different skills: reading comprehension, listening comprehension, and structure and written expression. All questions are multiple-choice, and scores are valid only at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville.

  • Listening Comprehension (35 minutes)
    Measures the ability to understand spoken English as it is used in colleges and universities.
    50 Questions
  • Structure and Written Expression (25 minutes)
    Measures recognition of selected structural and grammatical points in standard written English.
    40 Questions
  • Reading Comprehension (55 minutes)
    Measures the ability to read and understand academic reading material in English.

Registration

Register for the TOEFL ITP at least 7 days in advance to avoid paying a late registration fee of $20.

Identification Requirements

A valid passport is the only acceptable form of identification. If you come on the test day without your passport, you will not be tested and your test fee will not be transferred or refunded.

Score Reporting

The TOEFL ITP unofficial results are available on the same day you take the test. Results for this test are only valid at the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, and all scores are forwarded to the International Admissions Office. Official results are mailed to you in approximately four weeks.

Scores from this exam range from 310 - 677. The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville requires a minimum score of 550. For more information, visit the Evidence of English Proficiency page on the International Admissions website.
