Test Description

This test measures examinees verbal, quantitative and analytical skills that you have developed over a long period of time in your education and work. It is given in a computer-based format only. The verbal and quantitative sections are multiple-choice. The format of the analytical section is essay.

Test Schedule

This exam is given several times throughout the month, typically on Wednesday and Saturday. You can obtain a list of test dates by visiting the GRE website (opens in new window) and creating an account.

Registration

The GRE test is a widely used admissions test for graduate school. We offer the GRE General Exam 1 to 2 times per month of the University of Arkansas campus.

Registration for the GRE General exam must be done online at gre.org.

  1. Create an ETS account and sign in: www.gre.org.
  2. Under My Tests, click the Register / Find Test Centers, Dates button.
  3. On the next screen, fill out the form:
    • Select GRE General Test
    • Select Find test centers at or near this location
    • Enter Fayetteville, AR
    • Select a two-month period to view
    • Click Continue
  4. Click By Distance at the top of the screen and choose Show Test Dates for U of A - Fayetteville.
  5. A Calendar will appear with test dates you can select.
  6. Click Register.

Identification Requirements

When you create your ETS account and regsiter for the GRE, it's important to make sure that the name you use exactly matches the name on the identification you plan to use on the day of your test. You may take the General Test only once per calendar month and no more than five times within any 12-month period. This applies even if you canceled your scores on a test taken previously.

Graduate School of Business Deadlines

It is recommended that the GRE be taken at least one month prior to the application deadline. Upon completion of the exam, you will receive your unofficial score report. Please email gsb@walton.uark.edu to determine if your score falls within admissibility range.
